Marriage License Requirements:
Marriage licenses are issued on the same day of application. There is no waiting period. Blood tests are no longer required. Both applicants must appear at the Clerk’s Office, together, to complete the application. Once issued, marriage licenses are valid for 60 days.
Applicants, 18 years and older, must provide one of the following: valid driver’s license; current state I. D. card; certified copy of their birth certificate; or military identification or passport. The fee for the license is $20 and one of the applicants must be a resident of Rush County.
If neither applicant is a resident of Rush County, but are residents of the State of Indiana, they must obtain their license in the county that one of them resides.
If neither applicant is a resident of the state of Indiana, they can obtain a license in Rush County. However, the fee is $62, and the couple must get married in Rush County.
If an applicant is 17 years old, both parents must be present, consent, and sign the application.
If an applicant is 15 or 16 years old, special circumstances apply and a court order is required.
