New Health Officer Dr Helen Steusey

Dr. Helen Steussy is the new Health Officer for Rush County. She has been the pathologist and lab director for Rush Memorial Hospital for 21 years and practiced pathology at Henry County Hospital for 28 years. She also served as Health Officer for Henry County for 10 years.
Dr. Steussy attended the IU School of Medicine where she received her MD and continued there for her 4 year specialty training in clinical and anatomic pathology.
An avid bike rider, Dr. Steussy hopes to work with the Health Department to increase opportunities for active living and healthy eating. She is impressed with the work of Rush2Health and the Partners for a Healthy Rush County. She is glad to see the mayor of Rushville working on a parks plan and a trails plan for the city. Ideally these plans would reach out to the rural areas so everyone in the county would have a safe and beautiful place to walk, run or ride a bicycle.
Dr. Steussy is a life-long resident of Henry County where she lives out in the country on a 33 acre nature preserve. She and her husband have installed 15 acres of tall grass prairie and they’ve planted over 2,000 trees on their property.
Please join us and welcome Dr Helen Steussy as the new Health Officer of Rush County.

Rush County Government

Welcome to the official website of Rush County government where you will find information on its offices, agencies, and officials.

Most government offices are situated in the Courthouse, an appropriately elegant 1896 monument to Rush County's heritage.

However, Rush County is more than historical buildings, farm country, and small-town living.  Some of its greatest assets are the friendly, hard-working, honest people who help make Rush County a safe, family-oriented community. To learn more about Rush County, click here.

Please wander through our virtual directory and don't hesitate to contact those listed throughout this site.  Better still, visit us in person.  Click here for map to Courthouse.
