Rush County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) director, Chuck Kemker, has some reminders about winter preparedness and your safety. “When it comes to getting ready for winter, personal responsibility is key. Don’t wait until a few hours before a snow or ice storm to stock up on supplies—start preparing now. Once your family is ready for winter storms, check with any elderly neighbors, lower income families or families with young children that might need help obtaining extra blankets, warm clothes or other essentials to keep them warm and safe.”

Courthouse Food Drive
Rush County Auditor, Mary Ann Beard organized a food drive to benefit Rush County Community Assistance. Courthouse employees generously donated nonperishable food items. The collections boxes in the hallways reminded those of us who have plenty to share to help the many who struggle to feed their families. Those who need assistance can bring a photo ID and visit the food pantry once every 28 days.
You, too, can share by sending cash or donating food items all year long. Rush County Community Assistance is located at 109 E. 3rd St. in Rushville and open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m every Tuesday and Thursday as well as the last Saturday of each month. 765-932-4379
